Antioxidant tested to calm early psychosis signs

NCT ID NCT05142735

Summary

This study is testing whether a supplement called N-acetylcysteine (NAC) can reduce early warning signs of schizophrenia in young people at high risk. Ninety participants will take either NAC or a placebo pill daily for 8 weeks to see if it improves their symptoms and related brain activity. The goal is to find a safer, well-tolerated option to help manage these early symptoms and potentially prevent them from getting worse.
