Brain scan study tests common supplement for autism symptoms

Summary
This study is testing whether a single dose of the nutritional supplement N-acetylcysteine (NAC) can help reduce restricted and repetitive behaviors in children with autism. Researchers will measure changes in brain chemistry and activity using MRI and EEG scans to understand how NAC might work. The study includes 24 children aged 3 to 12 with moderate to severe repetitive behaviors.
