Scientists hunt for hidden reasons behind mysterious, recurring infections
NCT ID NCT00018044
Summary
This study aims to understand why some people develop serious, recurring infections from common environmental bacteria, while most do not. Researchers will observe up to 1,000 patients with these infections, as well as some with related conditions like cystic fibrosis, to track their health over time and look for genetic or immune system clues. The goal is to learn more about what makes people susceptible, which could guide future treatments, but this study itself does not test new cures.
