Xylophone distraction eases needle fear in hospitalized tots
NCT ID NCT06938776
First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested whether playing with a xylophone before and during an IV insertion can reduce pain and fear in hospitalized children ages 3 to 6. Sixty-four children were randomly assigned to either play with the toy or receive standard care. Researchers measured pain, fear, and parent satisfaction to see if this simple distraction technique helps make the procedure less stressful.
