Can music rehearsals and a concert ease mental health struggles?
NCT ID NCT07762079
First seen Aug 13, 2026 · Last updated Aug 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adults with chronic, stable mental health conditions will actively engage in a 4-month musical immersion program called Résonance(s), which includes rehearsals with a professional orchestra, listening sessions, and a final public concert. The main question is whether participants attend at least 70% of the 11 sessions. Researchers will also measure changes in emotional well-being, recovery, self-esteem, attention, and anxiety before, during, and after the program.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A 4-month musical and experiential immersion program including rehearsals with the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, music listening sessions, and a final public concert.
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a non-drug way to improve emotional well-being, self-esteem, and social connection for people living with chronic mental health conditions.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early exploratory study with no control group, so any benefits seen may not be due to the program itself. Participation requires attending most sessions, which may be challenging for some.
