First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This pilot study from Yale University will test whether a 4-week music-based intervention can reduce pain and stress in people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Thirty adults with moderate IBS pain will listen to music for 20 minutes twice daily, at least five days a week. They will wear a smartwatch and abdominal sensor belt to track pain and stress responses at home. The goal is to understand how music might ease IBS pain and whether wearable tech can reliably measure these effects.
