Doctors test simple scan to find perfect time to take patients off ventilators
NCT ID NCT07083128
Summary
This study aims to see if a simple ultrasound scan of chest muscles can help doctors predict the best time to take a patient off a breathing machine. It will observe 64 adults who have been on a ventilator for at least a day and are ready to try breathing on their own. The goal is to find a reliable sign that shows when a patient is strong enough to breathe without the machine's help, which could prevent complications from removing the ventilator too early or too late.
