Why ICU survivors Can't get their strength back: scientists probe muscle failure

NCT ID NCT05537298

Summary

This study aims to understand why many people who survive a serious illness in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) struggle to regain their muscle strength and physical abilities. Researchers will follow about 200 adult ICU survivors for a year, measuring their muscle function and looking at tiny cellular markers in their muscles. The goal is to learn what causes long-term weakness, which could help design better future treatments for recovery.
