Muscle signals could predict how long You'll stay in hospital

NCT ID NCT07476391

Summary

This study looked at whether levels of certain muscle proteins (myostatin and irisin) can predict how long patients with severe inflammation will need to stay in the hospital. Researchers followed 54 hospitalized adults with systemic inflammation, measuring these proteins and using muscle ultrasound. The goal was to find early warning signs that might help doctors identify patients at risk for longer hospital stays and muscle weakness.
