Scientists probe why muscles struggle for oxygen in rare diseases
NCT ID NCT02789059
Summary
This study aimed to understand how muscles use oxygen during exercise in people with different neuromuscular diseases, compared to healthy people. Seventeen participants performed a leg exercise while researchers measured oxygen levels in their muscles using a special light-based device. The goal was to learn if problems with oxygen delivery or use inside muscle cells explain the weakness seen in these conditions.
