ICU muscle loss could signal higher death risk
NCT ID NCT07280039
Summary
This study aims to understand if losing muscle mass during the first week in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is linked to a higher chance of dying within 28 days. Researchers will use ultrasound to measure thigh muscle size in about 386 critically ill patients when they are admitted and again one week later. The goal is to gather knowledge to help doctors better predict patient outcomes, not to test a new treatment.
