This study aimed to understand why people with sickle cell disease often have reduced physical fitness. Researchers compared leg muscle strength and fatigue during exercise between 77 sickle cell patients and healthy individuals. The goal was to determine if muscle dysfunction contributes to exercise limitations beyond known blood circulation problems.
