Lab-Grown cells could unlock secrets of kidney disorder

NCT ID NCT06718894

First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study aims to see if a special cell culture system can detect a substance in the blood that causes protein leakage in the urine of people with a kidney condition called nephrotic syndrome. Researchers will compare blood and urine samples from 150 participants—including patients with the condition, healthy volunteers, and those with other kidney diseases—over up to 36 months. They will also test whether certain drugs can block this substance in the lab, potentially leading to better treatments.
