Could a vaccine stop colon cancer before it starts?

NCT ID NCT02134925

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests a vaccine designed to help the immune system target and destroy abnormal colon growths called advanced adenomas, which can turn into cancer. About 110 people who recently had these high-risk polyps removed will receive either the MUC1 vaccine or a placebo. The goal is to see if the vaccine triggers an immune response and lowers the chance of polyps coming back, potentially preventing colorectal cancer.
