New gut therapy challenges standard stool transplants for dangerous infections

NCT ID NCT05911997

Summary

This study is testing a new, standardized microbial therapy called MTC01 against the current standard treatment, a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT), for people who keep getting repeat C. diff infections. It aims to see if the new treatment is as safe and effective as the stool transplant, which uses bacteria from a healthy donor's gut. The study will enroll 60 adults who have had at least two C. diff infections in the last six months.
