New imaging technology aims to make prostate biopsies more accurate

NCT ID NCT02050542

Summary

This study compared two approaches for prostate biopsies to see which better detects cancer. Researchers tested whether 3 targeted biopsies guided by MRI imaging could be as effective as the standard 12 systematic ultrasound-guided biopsies. The study involved 108 men with elevated PSA levels and suspicious MRI findings, aiming to improve diagnostic accuracy while potentially reducing the number of biopsies needed.
