Radiation-Free scans for kids with cancer: a safer way to track tumors?

NCT ID NCT02415816

Summary

This study tested whether a special type of MRI scan, which uses no radiation, could work as well as standard scans that do use radiation for children with bone and soft tissue cancers (sarcomas). Researchers wanted to see if this safer method could correctly identify where the cancer had spread and measure how well the tumor was responding to treatment. The goal was to gather information that might help reduce children's lifetime exposure to harmful radiation from repeated medical imaging.
