New MRI method may spot early dementia without radiation

NCT ID NCT05756270

First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at 150 people with mild memory problems to see if a special MRI scan (pCASL) can give similar information to a standard PET scan. Participants had brain scans, spinal taps, and yearly memory tests for three years. The goal was to see if the MRI could help predict who might develop dementia, without the need for radiation.
