New MRI scans could replace invasive tests for brain vessel problems

NCT ID NCT02896881

Summary

This study tested whether new types of MRI scans could work as well as standard angiography (an invasive X-ray procedure) for checking if brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) were completely treated after an embolization procedure. Researchers enrolled 53 adults with brain AVMs who were scheduled for embolization treatment. The goal was to see if the MRI could accurately detect any remaining abnormal blood vessels without needing the more invasive angiography test.
