Scientists use MRI to see if your gut is starved for blood

NCT ID NCT07182669

Summary

This study aims to test a new, non-invasive MRI scan to help diagnose chronic mesenteric ischemia, a rare condition where narrowed gut arteries cause severe pain after eating. Researchers will compare 40 people—some with the condition and some without—by measuring blood flow and oxygen levels in a key vein before and after a meal. The goal is to find a safer, radiation-free way to accurately identify patients who have this hard-to-diagnose problem.
