Summary
This study tested whether functional MRI can detect problems with the placenta in pregnant women. Researchers gave mothers pure oxygen and watched for changes in the MRI signal from the placenta and fetus. They aimed to tell the difference between healthy babies and those with intrauterine growth restriction (poor growth in the womb). The study involved 101 pregnant women between 18 and 37 weeks of pregnancy.
