New scan aims to see inside Babies' lungs without harmful radiation

NCT ID NCT04035629

Summary

This study aimed to test a new type of MRI scan that uses a safe, inhaled gas to take detailed pictures of the lungs. The goal was to better understand the lung damage in premature infants with a chronic breathing problem called bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Researchers planned to scan up to 30 infants already in the hospital to see if this method could provide more information than standard X-rays or CT scans, which use radiation. The study was withdrawn and did not enroll any participants.
