New brain scan could pinpoint hidden stroke cause, guide lifesaving treatment

NCT ID NCT07448454

Summary

This study is testing if a special type of MRI scan, called vessel wall MRI, can help doctors tell the difference between two conditions that cause strokes: hardening of the brain arteries (ICAD) and inflamed brain arteries (vasculitis). It will involve 46 people who recently had a stroke. The goal is to see if this scan provides clearer pictures than standard tests, so doctors can choose the correct treatment—like blood thinners or immune-suppressing drugs—more quickly.
