New brain scan could predict future strokes after surgery
NCT ID NCT07497152
Summary
This study tested whether a detailed MRI scan of brain artery walls could help predict which patients are at risk of having another stroke after a procedure to open a narrowed artery. Researchers followed 74 patients who had a stroke or mini-stroke and a severe artery blockage, all of whom underwent the artery-opening procedure. They used the special MRI to look for signs of inflammation in the artery wall and checked if patients had another stroke within about 15 months.
