Heart scan could spare stroke patients unnecessary surgery

NCT ID NCT06047782

Summary

This study aims to see if a special heart MRI scan can help doctors decide which stroke patients need a small implanted heart monitor. After a stroke with no clear cause, patients often get a monitor implanted under the skin to check for a hidden irregular heartbeat. Researchers want to know if the MRI, which measures scar tissue in the heart, can predict who is most at risk, potentially avoiding unnecessary procedures for others.
