New scan study aims to protect girls from unnecessary surgery

NCT ID NCT07313514

Summary

This study is testing whether a special MRI scan classification system can better tell if an ovarian mass in a girl is cancerous or benign before surgery. It involves 100 girls under 16 who had surgery for an ovarian mass and a pre-surgery MRI. The goal is to help doctors choose the safest surgery—either removing just the mass or the entire ovary—based on a more accurate cancer risk prediction.
