Scientists use MRI to peer inside muscles of patients with rare energy disorder

NCT ID NCT04734626

Summary

This study aims to better understand mitochondrial diseases by using a special MRI scan to measure how well muscles produce energy. Researchers will scan the legs of about 230 people, including patients with the disease and healthy volunteers, while they perform a simple foot-pedal exercise. The goal is to gather information that could lead to a new tool for diagnosing the condition and measuring its effects in future clinical trials.
