MRI breakthrough could make heart tests faster and safer

NCT ID NCT03152773

Summary

This study is testing if special, low-energy MRI settings can safely allow doctors to use standard guidewires during a heart catheterization procedure. Guidewires help steer the catheter but are usually unsafe in an MRI because they can heat up. Researchers want to see if this new MRI-guided method can reduce procedure time and avoid the radiation used in standard X-ray guidance. The study involves adults who already need a diagnostic heart catheterization.
