Brain scan breakthrough could pinpoint stroke cause, guide lifesaving treatment

NCT ID NCT07448454

Summary

This study aims to see if a special type of MRI scan, called vessel wall MRI, can accurately tell the difference between two conditions that cause strokes: a buildup of plaque in the brain's arteries (ICAD) and inflammation of the blood vessels (vasculitis). Researchers will enroll 46 adults who recently had a stroke to see if this detailed scan provides clearer information than standard tests. The goal is to help doctors choose the correct treatment faster, which could improve recovery.
