First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test how well MRI can tell if ovarian cysts are benign or malignant. Fifty women with cysts seen on ultrasound will get an MRI, and the results will be compared with surgery findings or follow-up scans. The goal is to improve diagnosis and help doctors choose the best treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, MRI could become a standard tool to accurately diagnose ovarian cysts, helping avoid unnecessary surgeries and guiding proper treatment.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. MRI may not always clearly distinguish cyst types, and some patients cannot have MRI due to metal implants or claustrophobia.
