New study aims to spare liver donors from unnecessary needle biopsies
NCT ID NCT07015723
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at whether an MRCP scan can accurately measure fat in the liver, potentially replacing the need for a biopsy in living liver donors. Biopsies are invasive and carry risks, while MRCP is a simple scan. Researchers will compare results from both methods in 90 donors to see if the scan is reliable enough to use alone, making the donation process safer and more comfortable.
