Robot amplifies stroke Survivors' steps to boost balance
NCT ID NCT06400186
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study explores whether a robotic device that amplifies a person's own walking movements can help improve balance in people who have had a stroke. Participants with chronic stroke (more than 6 months ago) will do two treadmill walking sessions—one in a normal environment and one with the movement-amplifying robot. The goal is to see if this novel training helps them control their balance better during walking.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
robotic movement amplification device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could lead to a new gait training method that improves walking balance and quality of life for stroke survivors.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The training is short-term and may not produce lasting improvements.
