Scientists release 'Friendly' mosquitoes to fight dengue outbreak
NCT ID NCT04514107
Summary
This study tested whether releasing mosquitoes infected with a harmless bacteria called Wolbachia could reduce infections from dengue, Zika, and chikungunya viruses in Brazil. Over 5,700 children aged 6-11 participated over four years. Researchers compared areas where these special mosquitoes were released alongside standard mosquito control to areas with standard control alone.
