Therapy Tune-Up: does twice a week beat once for depression?
NCT ID NCT07408687
First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated Apr 26, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study looks at two common talk therapies for depression—cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP)—to see if having sessions twice a week works better than once a week. It also tests whether matching people to the therapy that best fits their personality and life experiences leads to better results. About 200 adults with major depression will take part, and researchers will track changes in symptoms, thinking patterns, and emotional understanding.
