Clear braces take on classic overbite treatment in Head-to-Head trial

NCT ID NCT05950581

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new clear-plate version of the Twin-Block brace against the traditional metal one for children aged 10.5-13 with a receding lower jaw and overbite. The goal is to see if the clear plates work as well at correcting jaw position and bite. Thirty-two participants will wear the device 17 hours daily, and changes in jaw angles and tooth position will be measured.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Modified Twin-Block Appliance with Clear Plates

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a more comfortable and less visible option for correcting overbite in children, potentially improving treatment adherence.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 32 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The clear plates might be less effective or more fragile than the traditional device.
