Summary
This study tested a small change in how surgeons break up brown cataracts, which are very hard and tough to remove. Instead of using ultrasound energy the whole time, surgeons made a groove in the cataract and then sprayed saline for 30 seconds to soften it. The goal was to see if this could reduce the amount of ultrasound needed. The study included 20 people with brown cataracts and measured the time the ultrasound was active.
