One needle instead of two: new dialysis technique could save blood vessels and money
NCT ID NCT07372027
First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests a new way to do dialysis using only one needle in the arm's blood vessel and a second needle in the leg to return cleaned blood. The goal is to reduce damage to the main dialysis blood vessel, lower the risk of complications like scarring and blockages, and cut down on medical costs. About 100 adults on long-term dialysis will take part, and researchers will compare this method to the standard two-needle approach over three years.
