Scientists probe hidden protein culprit in arthritis destruction

NCT ID NCT06494813

Summary

This study aimed to better understand how a specific protein called MMP-9 contributes to the joint damage seen in rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers compared 30 patients with active rheumatoid arthritis to 30 healthy individuals. The goal was to see if differences in the MMP-9 gene were linked to the disease, which could help guide future research into treatments.
