AI predicts which heart kids need extra support

NCT ID NCT06886529

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether a computer program (machine learning) can help doctors identify children with heart problems who might benefit from a palliative care team (PACT) earlier. About 1,000 children admitted to the cardiology unit will be monitored. The program sends alerts to doctors, who then decide if a palliative care consultation is needed. Researchers will compare what happens before and after the program is used to see if it leads to more timely care and better outcomes.
