Heart ultrasound may predict Post-Surgery complications

NCT ID NCT04045340

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 140 adults having mitral valve surgery to see if a special heart ultrasound measure (called global longitudinal strain, or GLS) could predict a serious complication called low cardiac output syndrome. Researchers measured GLS during surgery and tracked patient outcomes. The goal was to find a better way to identify high-risk patients early.
