New Gut-Targeted pill aims to calm bowel disease flares

NCT ID NCT04276740

Summary

This study is testing whether a daily capsule called MitoQ can help people with a flare-up of moderate ulcerative colitis. About 80 participants will take either MitoQ or a placebo (dummy pill) for 24 weeks alongside standard steroid treatment. Researchers want to see if MitoQ, which protects the energy-producing parts of gut cells, reduces inflammation, improves symptoms, and helps patients stay in remission without needing stronger medications.
