Army tests antioxidant pill to fight frostbite risk

NCT ID NCT06784531

Summary

This study is investigating whether an antioxidant supplement called MitoQ can help keep hands warmer and improve blood flow during cold exposure. Researchers want to see if it works better for Black individuals, who face a higher risk of cold injuries like frostbite. Healthy volunteers will take the supplement or a placebo and then have their hand temperature and blood flow measured while their hands are in cold water.
