Common drug may make key fibroid surgery safer

NCT ID NCT07286188

Summary

This study is testing if giving the drug misoprostol before a specific type of fibroid surgery makes the procedure safer. The surgery uses fluid to see inside the uterus, and absorbing too much fluid is a main risk. Researchers want to see if misoprostol helps the uterus contract, reducing fluid absorption so surgeons can complete the operation without hitting safety limits. About 40 women having this surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo (inactive pill) beforehand.
