One pill, three battles: drug trial aims to ease depression and chemo sickness for brain cancer patients

NCT ID NCT03935685

Summary

This study is testing if the medication mirtazapine can help newly diagnosed brain cancer patients who are feeling depressed and suffering from severe nausea and vomiting caused by their chemotherapy. Researchers will give the drug to about 36 depressed patients for eight weeks to see if it improves their mood, reduces nausea, and helps them maintain their weight. The main goal is to see if this one medication can safely tackle several difficult side effects at once.
