2000-Patient study aims to predict heart risks from leaky valve
NCT ID NCT06876883
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
The MIRACLE study is following 2000 adults diagnosed with moderate or severe mitral regurgitation, a common heart valve problem. Researchers will use detailed heart ultrasound exams and track patients over time to identify factors that raise the risk of death or heart failure hospitalization. The goal is to build a clinical model that helps doctors make better treatment decisions for this condition.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could lead to a better way to predict which patients with mitral regurgitation are at highest risk, helping doctors decide who needs early treatment.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not test any new drug or procedure, so it cannot directly improve outcomes. The model may not be accurate for all patient groups.
