Common antibiotic tested as Add-On therapy for bowel disease

NCT ID NCT06201793

Summary

This study tested whether adding the antibiotic minocycline to standard mesalamine treatment could better control ulcerative colitis, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease. Researchers enrolled 46 adults with mild-to-moderate disease who were already taking mesalamine. They measured whether the combination reduced symptoms like frequent stools and rectal bleeding more effectively than mesalamine alone.
