Could a common antibiotic boost stroke recovery?

NCT ID NCT07594301

First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding the antibiotic minocycline to standard clot-removal treatment helps people recover better after a severe stroke in the back of the brain. About 234 adults who had a stroke due to a blocked artery and had the clot successfully removed will receive minocycline or a placebo. The goal is to see if minocycline reduces brain inflammation and leads to more people being able to live independently at 90 days.
