New surgical approach tested for tough pancreatic cancers

NCT ID NCT04763642

Summary

This study compared two surgical approaches for removing pancreatic, bile duct, and ampulla of Vater cancers: minimally invasive surgery (using small incisions and cameras) versus traditional open surgery. Researchers followed 320 patients aged 21-75 to see which method resulted in fewer complications, better recovery, and shorter hospital stays. The goal was to determine if newer, less invasive techniques are as safe and effective as the standard open surgery for these complex operations.
