Can your phone help you quit smoking? study tests mindfulness texts

NCT ID NCT04965181

Summary

This study tested whether a mindfulness-based text messaging program, alone or combined with counseling, helps adults quit smoking. 504 smokers in Atlanta were randomly assigned to receive different combinations of support: text messages, virtual counseling sessions, self-help materials, and nicotine patches/lozenges. Researchers measured how many people successfully quit smoking at 8, 12, and 24 weeks.
