First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a mindfulness training program can reduce depression, anxiety, and stress in pregnant women who did not plan or want their pregnancy but chose to continue it. Researchers will randomly assign 68 women in Turkey to either the mindfulness training or a control group. The training includes breathing exercises and compassion meditations over several sessions. The goal is to see if it improves self-compassion and self-acceptance.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to help pregnant women with unwanted pregnancies feel less depressed, anxious, and stressed.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 68 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The training is behavioral, so benefits depend on how well participants engage with it.
